FAQ

What is light steel frame construction?

→ A modern construction method using light steel profiles

→ The most sustainable and circular construction solution.

→ An off-site construction method: the fastest and most precise way to build.

→ An efficient method to elevate and expand your building while providing total architectural freedom.

What are the advantages of building with a steel frame?

→ Off-site technology: expertise, precision, and circularity

Fast construction: prefabrication thanks to our off-site technology and independence from weather conditions

Sustainable method: steel is 100% recyclable, no waste on site thanks to off-site technology

Lightweight material: the light steel structure is 4 times lighter than a wooden structure

Better strength-to-weight ratio: steel is stronger than any other material and withstands storms and tropical climates

Flexibility: steel allows total freedom in architectural design

Longevity and resilience: resistant to rot, mold, and tropical climates

More details here.

What types of buildings can be built with steel frame?

→ Residential buildings: houses and apartment buildings

→ Commercial buildings

→ Warehouses

Why use a steel frame for elevation?

Lightweight: It is 4 times lighter than all traditional construction methods.

50% faster: minimization of impact on neighbors and road congestion.

No waste on site – dry construction.

Gain interior space with a narrower structure.

Minimal impact: Does not reinforce the existing structure.

Learn more about why here.

Is steel construction cost effective?

Thanks to its great durability and off-site technology, the beSteel steel structure offers reduced maintenance costs, making it very cost-effective in the long term.

Is steel construction a sustainable choice?

→ Steel is 100% recyclable

→ Thanks to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, it reduces resource consumption

→ Easy to dismantle, reuse, and recycle

→ Uses materials with a high proportion of recycled content, up to 42%

→ Off-site manufacturing of steel structures minimizes waste

→ Offers a construction time 20-40% faster with less impact on the area

Reduction of transport emissions and vehicles to and from the site.

What is the typical construction time for a light steel structure project?

→ Building with a steel structure is 50% faster than all traditional construction methods.

→ Construction time depends on the scale and complexity of the project: a steel structure for a 100 m² house can be installed in 2 days.

→ Our streamlined process ensures on-time delivery without compromising quality.

How do steel structures behave in fire?

→ Steel structures do not burn and do not crack under high temperatures, unlike wood or concrete.

→ With the appropriate fireproof materials, steel structures can meet or exceed all safety standards.

Discover all the details about the fire resistance of steel structures here.

How is thermal and acoustic comfort achieved in light steel structures?

The thermal and acoustic insulation of light steel structures is achieved by adding insulating materials such as wool, fiberglass, polyurethane foam, or expanded polystyrene between the steel sections.

Discover everything you need to know about the insulation of steel structures here.

How does steel behave under extreme weather conditions?

Steel structures can withstand extreme weather conditions thanks to:

The best strength-to-weight ratio: steel is stronger than any other material and withstands storms and tropical climates.

Longevity and resilience: resistant to rot, mold, and tropical climates.

The steel structure is highly recommended for tropical climates and for strong winds, hurricanes, and even earthquakes.

Discover everything about the weather resistance of steel structures here.

What is the difference between a steel structure and a wooden structure?

The light steel structure is lighter, stronger, and more durable than wood.

Lightweight: The steel structure is 4 times lighter than the wooden structure.

Strength: Steel is not organic, so it is not affected by water, fungi, or mold.

Seismic-resistant: Steel has the greatest deformation and reshaping ability.

Cyclone-resistant: Due to its high mechanical strength and flexibility, steel can withstand all extreme weather conditions.

Circularity and durability: Steel is 100% recyclable. Wood is often treated with chemicals and cannot be reused.

Discover all the differences in detail and the advantages of each construction method here.

What are the risks associated with building with a steel structure? Is there a risk of corrosion?

Corrosion of light steel is a potential risk, but it can be managed and prevented in several ways:

→ The use of galvanized steel or coated with anti-corrosion treatments, as we do at beSteel with Magnelis steel.

→ Installation of appropriate sealing systems.

Avoid direct contact with corrosive materials.

→ Implementation of good construction and maintenance practices.

What type of steel is used in beSteel structures?

We use high-quality Magnelis® steel, manufactured by ArcelorMittal, in all our structures. This steel ensures the quality of your steel structure and the durability of your project.

For more details click here.

Can steel structures accommodate custom architectural designs?

Yes, our light steel structures are very flexible and adapt to custom architectural designs.

You are suppliers, do you have someone to install the steel structure?

We do not perform the installation ourselves, but we have a network of partners who are well acquainted with our product and can install it smoothly.

Depending on the work area, we can recommend one or more installers.

How to ensure fire resistance?

The steel structure must be protected by drywall.

We have a range of details that we can provide to you. We also have a construction technician on our team who can assist you in choosing the compositions.

How to ensure acoustic insulation?

Since our profiles are very thin, we have more space for insulation, and the overall performance will be better than that of a conventional structure (for an equivalent thickness).

Is there a risk of thermal bridges?

It may be surprising, but the steel structure can be very effective from an acoustic standpoint. There are reports of above-average performance (Class A) that we can share.
